Standard House Project
Sited in a 19th Century building in Mumbai - Standard House Project was designed with the intention of minimal intervention, restoring and embracing the original fabric of the space as it was found – raw, old and unpolished. The previously derelict 1600 square foot space, which now inhabits a private co-working space, has stood witness to a lot of alterations in its lifetime. The design approach celebrates this by picking up on existing markers of the past modifications. The datum set by a previous false ceiling is used to define what is ‘finished’, leaving everything above exposed in its found state.
